Rogers Elementary School Reviews

Rogers School has a nice family feel. The staff , students, and parents are supportive. Nonetheless, I would like to see students held to higher academic standards in literacy and math. Also, teachers need to deliver a more rigorous curriculum, that includes effective, and up to date instructional practices. If that were given priority, I am confident that Rogers would receive a 10 of of 10 rating and not 7 out of 10! Go Rogers!

I have read many of the reviews and agree that Rogers is a friendly and caring school! Many of these parents, however, did not comment on the instructional/academic programs. I must say, I have not been impressed with HOW students are taught at this school. The curriculum at best is mediocre, expectations low, and teaching strategies outdated. I strongly believe administration needs to be more proactive and responsible for learning outcomes, in connection with teacher effectiveness in the classroom.

As a parent, I too have been less than confident regarding the quality of education my child is receiving at Rogers. I agree with many of the comments regarding low academic standards and lack of current 'best practices,' being implemented in the classroom. All things start at the top, and so the Principal should give specific attention to teacher effectiveness, and how it relates to student achievement. I think this piece is being neglected. On a positive note, my child does enjoy coming to school, and the students, parents, and staff are warm and caring individuals.

Creative learning opportunities for the kids, disciplined curriculum, solid parent involvement.

My children attend Rogers and the social experience there has been positive, but Rogers has little to offer in terms of exciting learning opportunities. A majority of the teachers have taught 20 plus years and are inexperienced with current practices for teaching literacy, etc., or they are just not that interested in making a change to promote higher learning and student achievement. I definitely think the Principal needs to be more involved in keeping teachers accountable for learning outcomes, as opposed to putting all the responsibility on the kids' performance. Food for thought Rogers!

Your life comes full circle as grandparents. It is extremely important that children want to learn and develop in a school setting. Rogers is more than a school it is a journey of utmost importance in the life of every student. We have seen such a beautiful growth in our grandchildren in all aspects of their education. To listen to your grandchildren read to you was an experience that will be cherished forever! Rogers has the most caring, happy and supportive teachers and principal. You know they have a great school when your grandchildren love to go to school. I taught school a long time ago. The lasting effect you have on a student will live with them for a lifetime. Rogers deserves to be the best school in the United States becasue they realize that learning is far more the the basics of'reading, writing and aritmetic.' It is about giving the children all of the skills in life that will mold them into productive and wonderful citizens of the world. The involvement of parents is also an important facet of this school. The enthusiasm of the children, teachers and parents is heartwarming. This school should be a model of what an education is meant to be.

Wonderful teachers, caring and involved parents, a great community of support and a school district that isn't too big or too small; a great/smart principal, a superintendent that is 'in touch' with the parents. Rogers is a Green School and offers teachers who are expert in modern and alternative teaching methods like bal-a-vis-x. We love Rogers!!

Rogers is an amazing school! The principal, the teachers and the staff are wonderful! They are always looking out for the best interest of your child. The children and their families that attend Rogers are so great. It feels like we are one big happy family! Go Racoons!

So far I have not been completely satisfied with my children's academic experience at Rogers. The curriculum is not aggressive, and expectations are relatively low. I have had to provide daily/weekly homework in order to keep my children engaged and growing, and they are average students. This school needs to challenge students to excel, not just meet grade level expectations..

Teachers are caring and pay attention to their students ,specially when it comes to challenging them and encouraging them to 'strech their minds'.

My brother and I attended Rogers Elementary as children and now my son attends Rogers. The educational programs as well as the parent and community involvement in the school are only two of the things that makes Rogers Elementary stand out among elementary schools.

It may seem trite, but Rogers really is a family - small class sizes help students learn well, and being situated in the middle of a neighborhood makes it a focal point for the community. The staff cares, and the parents are heavily involved. It is just a wonderful school!

I love that Rogers is a neighborhood school. Most children -- and many parents -- walk to school and it is a great bonding experience in our comunity. The teachers and staff truly care about my daughters -- both personally and professionally. We are thrilled to be a Rogers Racoon Family!

Rogers is a fabulous school! Both of my children go there; they really have the whole package: great teachers, great principal, committed parents. I wouldn't send my children anywhere else!

Rogers is a great school, as a former Rogers Racoon I can say that I am very pleased my daughter gets to carry on the tradition of attending Rogers. The teachers are great and extremely helpful. Also a great principal and staff behind her.

As a parent of two kids (12 and 7) I can tell only good things about Rogers. Very high level of teaching. Principal Mrs. Shiller gets involved in every aspect of the school life. She is always there for all after school activities. She has her own kids too! Teachers work with every child , they challenge smart kids and help others. I am glad that my second is in 1 grade, so we have 4 more years to enjoy this school.

Rogers Elementary has an excellent teaching and administrative staff. My child is a special needs student and he has received a very high quality education at Rogers. His teachers and the principal have an open-door when it comes to communication. The staff is involved in the community and the prnicipal is very visible outside of school. I'm an active member of the PTA and find the PTA to be concerned with all the children at Rogers. Top notch school!

I have been a parent at Rogers for over 10 years. I have seen a lot of teachers come and go and I have dealt with two administrators. Berkley does a great job of hiring, because all these individuals have been easy to work with and great for kids. I've worked on a couple of committees with Mrs. Schiller and she is supportive of kids, teachers, and the community. Next year will be my last year as a Rogers parent and I am going to be sad to be leaving Rogers.

The principal could have a little better leadership for the students.I give her a lot of credit, concidering she has her own kids at home. The teachers are great with the students, and are always there for great advice when needed.
